Hey, I’m Shaun. Welcome to my newsletter. In fact, it’s much more than just a newsletter - it’s the home of my USA adventures on the internet, serving as a hub for my community of viewers alongside my main YouTube channel of the same name. In a way, you could also call it my website or my blog.
About me in short: I’m from Scotland and live in Edinburgh, I make videos and write. More about that in a moment, because the thing you really want to know is, why and how did I get in to telling stories about the United States of America?
This strange and unexpected career journey began in 2017. Along with a dozen other social media content creators from around the UK, I was invited on a tour of the States by the US Embassy to London on a tour they called ‘Exploring American Values’. It was a life changing experience in many ways and sparked my love affair with the USA and American people. Through this Newsletter, I will be sharing my experiences and thoughts that I hope you will find interesting, amusing, and perhaps curious. About me:
I am a YouTube vlogger and writer from Scotland. I live with my wife Teka, who is Brazilian, in Edinburgh, which is my home city.
Originally a newspaper journalist, and then a magazine photojournalist, before turning my hand to modern forms of storytelling - i.e YouTube vlogs and videos on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter ramblings), I am a storyteller at heart. Sharing all that’s good about life, as well as travel (and documenting my travels) are my biggest passions.
